This is a 1-2 season car that is being built for a customer in Florida.
No special options, base turnkey conversion. Currently the car sports
a 305 heisted from a 1987 Monte Carlo. This was a bit of a time crunch.
Three days before it was to be driven the 24 hours from Ft. Lauderdale,
Florida to Houston, Texas, the original engine blew. Lucky for the owner
he knew a good engine shop a few hours away where his brother worked.
Unfortunately, they only handled imports up until this time and knew nothing
of American cars or engines. They learned about the sturdy craftsmanship
the hard way, and many bruised thumbs and scraped knuckles later, they
managed to haul the engine out. With no experience they replaced the engine
in two days time, and the owner flew to the car and headed directly for
the highway, only a few short hours behind schedule.
This overnight trip pre-qualifies this driver for the 'Le Mans Hazard'
trophy in my opinion, should he consider entering the BK Automotive sponsored
CBR next year, which I have been informed he is thinking about. It would
be nice to have a conversion in the race.
